The Benefits of Turmeric Essential Oil - - local - letsbelocal.ca
Turmeric is an amazing superfood that has the ability to support our bodies naturally. Some of its properties include: antiviral, anti-inflammatory, antiseptic, antioxidant, antibacterial, anti-ageing, antimicrobial,  hepatoprotective and more! Turmeric comes from the same plant family as Ginger (the  Zingiberaceae plant family) and has been a constant staple ingredient in Indian and Asian cooking. Not only is it used to add spice and colour to food, but it is also a powerful medicinal herb that has been very popular in  Ayurvedic medicine and has recently taken the health world by storm. The oil is steam distilled from the Curcuma Longa plant from various parts of India and Nepal, and is much more concentrated than turmeric powder due to its ability to pass the blood brain barrier! 1. Skin Health

Turmeric has been used for centuries in South Asia and Ayurvedic medicine to treat all kinds of skin ailments such as acne, scarring, and it has even been observed to decrease hair growth in women. Due to its rich antiseptic and antioxidant properties, turmeric has become one of the top choices for skin support within the health and wellness world. Use turmeric to treat sunburns, increase skin elasticity, and reduce wrinkles!

How To Use:
  • Add 2 drops to your daily moisturizer for overall skin health, or add to a Q-Tip and use as a spot treatment.
  • Treat a sunburn by adding 1-5 drops of turmeric essential oil to fractionated coconut oil or carrot seed oil and apply to affected areas

2. Pain + Inflammation

Turmeric is a powerful herb and a massive healing agent that can help soothe pain and inflammation on a molecular level. Turmeric blocks the molecule NF-kB that is responsible for activating genes in cells that trigger inflammation. Chemical constituents such as ar-turmerone, turmerone, and alpha-curcumene all contribute to the healing benefits of Turmeric essential oil and help to alleviate inflammation associated with joint pain, arthritis, osteoporosis, chronic disease, and the digestive tract.

How To Use:
  • Take 1-2 drops in a veggie capsule 1-3 times a day to regulate pain and inflammation
  • Make your own salve by combining 2 TBSP of coconut oil with 7 drops each turmeric and copaiba essential oil. Apply to affected areas around your body.

3. Immune System

Due to Turmeric’s antiseptic, antimicrobial, antibacterial, and antiparasitic qualities– it has the ability to enhance your bodies natural defence system. By releasing an antioxidant called bilirubin, it strengthens your immune system's response to common infections. It’s sure to say that turmeric essential oil should be your go-to for immune support this winter season.

How To Use:
  • Make a roller bottle blend with 10 drops turmeric, thyme, frankincense, and lemon. Fill the rest with fractionated coconut oil and apply to the bottoms of your feet and along your spine to boost your immune system. Check out our full collection of roller bottles here
  • Add 1-2 drops to a cup of tea, hot water, or steamed milk (or alternative).

4. Brain Power

Turmeric essential oil has the potential to improve cognitive function and common mood disorders such as anxiety and depression. Brain-Derived Neurotrophic Factor (BDNF) is a hormone in our brain that is responsible for forming new connections. When BDNF levels are low, it could be connected to ailments such as depression, dementia, and Alzheimer's disease. Turmeric essential oil is known to boost BDNF levels and help fight and/or reverse cell degeneration and improve brain function.

How To Use:
  • Diffuse 2-3 drops of turmeric essential oil (blends well with cinnamon bark, sandalwood, frankincense, wild orange, cassia, and grapefruit).
  • Take 1 drop of turmeric essential oil internally in a veggie capsule 1-3 times daily to support overall mood and improve cognitive function

5. Detoxification

Keeping our liver strong and healthy is very important when it comes to keeping our bodies free of toxins. The liver is a vital organ and is responsible for detoxifying the body. Due to an active chemical known as, ar-tumerone, Turmeric essential oil is "hepatoprotective" which means it's a powerful anti-inflammatory that protects our liver and also helps with liver cell regeneration.

How To Use:
  • Add 1 drop of Turmeric essential oil to your water to help detoxify your body/liver (remember to use glass or stainless steel bottles only and shake it up before drinking!)
  • Combine fresh ginger, lemon, and 2 TSP raw honey with 1-2 drops of turmeric essential oil and top it up with boiling hot water. Enjoy the ultimate cup of detox!

It sure was nice that you pointed out that turmeric has the ability to block NF-kB that can trigger inflammation in the body. With that in mind, I’ll be sure to shop for a turmeric essential oil for my dad. He has been in pain due to his arthritis, and there have been days when he can’t stand and walk due to the intense pains. https://cbdchoicebotanicals.com/shop?olsPage=products%2Fcbdturmeric
