Here are 7 essential oils that we think would make a great start for men who are looking for natural alternatives to support their body and mind.

Reminder: When applying essential oils topically, always dilute it with a carrier oil such as fractionated coconut oil, jojoba oil, almond oil, etc. This will help "carry" the oil into your skin for maximum absorption.

Frankincense

Top properties: Anti-depressant, anti-inflammatory, restorative
Frankincense essential oil has the ability to reduce heart rate and high blood pressure associated with negative emotions; it includes plenty of stress-relieving properties that men can benefit from. It’s also a helpful sleep aid! Frankincense can help promote prostate health and reduce pain and inflammation. It can also help with brain health, cognitive function, and memory loss.
  • Add 1 or 2 drops to the palm of your hand, rub them together and take deep breaths to relieve stress
  • Add a few drops of Frankincense to a diffuser to help with sleep

Tea Tree/Melaleuca

Cardamom

Lemon

Lemon can also make a great cleaning agent, especially if you work in a hands-on environment where things tend to get messy. Black Pepper

Cedarwood

DIY Cologne

Storebought perfume and cologne can be expensive, contain chemicals and tend to be very strong. So why not make your own cologne using essential oils? Not only will it be all-natural, but you can customize the blend and how powerful you want the scent to be!

Here are a couple of basic cologne recipes to get you started:

Option 1

  • 2 drops Ginger + 5 drops Vetiver + 5 drops Bergamot

Option 2

  • 3 drops Orange + 3 drops Rosemary + 7 drops Cinnamon

Option 3:

  • 3 drops Sandalwood + 4 drops Bergamot + 5 drops Cedarwood

Option 4:

  • 10 drops Bergamot + 5 Siberian Fir + 2 drops Clove + 1 drop Lemon

Instructions:

Add essential oils to a 10 ml roller bottle and top with your choice of carrier oil. Feel free to adjust any of the drop amounts or make substitutions based on what oils you have at home.

DIY Beard Oil

This all-natural beard oil is the best for keeping your facial hair soft and your skin moisturized! Plus it adds an amazing scent too!
Option 1:
  • 2-4 drops Sandalwood + 2-4 drops Bergamot
Option 2:
  • 3 drops Cedarwood + 3 drops Sandalwood + 3 drops Rosemary

Instructions:

Add essential oils to an empty 15 ml bottle and add a dropper top for easy application. Top with argan oil. Alternative carrier oils that also work wonders include jojoba oil and hazelnut oil.
