Every year, more and more people are on the hunt for natural solutions to support their overall wellbeing. Essential oils are extracted from plants, and we've rounded up a few of our favourites to use during the cold, dark months ahead! Whether you're struggling with holiday stress, a compromised immune system, or seasonal depression... here are a few of the top essential oils that we feel should be everyone's go-tos this season!

Oregano is a powerhouse essential oil when it comes to protecting your immune system. It also contains thymol which is a naturally occurring antifungal that helps protect the body against toxins. Carvacrol is the strongest phenol in Oregano oil and helps stop the growth of several bacteria. Last but not least, rosemarinic acid is the powerful antioxidant in Oregano oil that protects our bodies against free radicals.

how to use...

 Mix a couple drops of Oregano with a carrier oil and massage onto the bottoms of your feet for extra immune support. Please note that Oregano is considered a hot oil and should not be applied neat.

Add 1-2 drops of Turmeric essential oil to a cup of tea, hot water, or steamed milk (or alternative). Please note: Turmeric essential oil is much more potent than the powder.

Inhaling the vapour from certain essential oils may help ease sinus congestion, support our immune system and open our airways. This is the best remedy for sinus relief/congestion! You could also do this with Lemon, Lavender, and Peppermint if you struggle with allergies.

  1. Boil water and pour into a mug.
  2. Add 2 drops Oregano, 2 drops Lemon, 2 drops Frankincense, and 2 drops Peppermint (or Eucalyptus) to your water.
  3. Place a towel or cloth over your eyes and inhale deeply over your mug until your sinuses are clear. Please do not open your eyes during this process.

On-the-go immune support! Adding our essential oils to a roller bottle is super travel-friendly. The oils in this blend will enter the bloodstream and build up our bodies resilience to sickness and bacterial intruders. You can utilize this blend by applying it to the bottoms of your feet, or even on your throat and the back of your neck if you don’t have sensitive skin! In a 10ml roller bottle combine:

  • 6 drops Oregano
  • 6 drops Lemon
  • 6 drops Frankincense
  • 6 drops Arborvitae 
  • Fill the rest with a carrier oil

bedtime tea

Try incorporating this bedtime tea into your night routine. Both Ginger and Frankincense essential oil are fantastic for strengthening your immune system, fighting viruses and balancing emotions. Whether you are feeling under the weather (coughing, fever, sore throat, headache, depression, congestion, indigestion) or feeling stressed and anxious, this bedtime tea will help soothe your mind and body before bed.

  • 1 drop Ginger
  • 1 drop Frankincense
  • 1 drop Lemon *optional
  • 1/2 - 1 tsp of unpastured honey

Add essential oils to a teaspoon of honey and stir stick around in a cup of boiled water or tea (decaf of course). Feel free to add a drop of lemon to feel refreshed and renewed.
